संज्ञा की परिभाषा – किसी व्यक्ति, वस्तु, स्थान, समूह या भाव के नाम को संज्ञा कहते है।

1) Proper Noun
The particular name of the particlar place or a person is known as the proper noun. Ex. India, america, Aman, sita etc.
- व्यक्तिवाचक संज्ञा (Proper Noun): वह संज्ञा जो किसी विशेष व्यक्ति, स्थान या वस्तु का नाम बताती है। उदाहरण: राम, सीता, दिल्ली, भारत।
2) Collective Noun
A name or noun used to denote a group of people, things or a group of animals is called a collective noun. Collective nouns are also called a group of nouns. Ex. Team (Team India), Committee, Squad, Family.
- समूहवाचक संज्ञा (Collective Noun): वह संज्ञा जो व्यक्तियों या वस्तुओं के समूह का बोध कराती है। उदाहरण: सेना, टोली, वर्ग, समूह।
3) Common Noun
The common name given to every person, place, thing or activity belonging to the same kind is known as the common noun. A common noun is not a name of a particular person, place, activity or idea. Ex. girl, boy, men, women, lawyer, Engineer etc.
- जातिवाचक संज्ञा (Common Noun): वह संज्ञा जो किसी जाति, वर्ग या समूह के सभी सदस्यों के लिए समान रूप से प्रयुक्त होती है। उदाहरण: लड़का, लड़की, किताब, कुत्ता।
4) Material Noun
The names used to mention materials or substances which are made up of and can be perceived by our senses are material nouns. Ex. Gold, Silver, Iron, Plastic, borex etc.
- द्रव्यवाचक संज्ञा (Material Noun): वह संज्ञा जो किसी द्रव्य या पदार्थ का बोध कराती है, जिसे तौला, मापा या गिना जा सकता है। उदाहरण: पानी, दूध, सोना, चाँदी।
5) Abstract Noun
The names which are used for an idea, quality, concept or condition are known as Abstract nouns. Abstract nouns are not physical substances, they don’t have physical existence. Ex. Friendship, hate,, Excellence, Patience etc.
- भाववाचक संज्ञा (Abstract Noun): वह संज्ञा जो किसी गुण, भाव या अवस्था का बोध कराती है। उदाहरण: सुंदरता, क्रोध, प्रेम, दुःख।
